Visit Trendy Southbank!Things to do in London...
Southbank is a very trendy area of London on the banks of the River Thames. It's also where many of the toptourist attractions in London are located. Visitors and Londoners regularly enjoy a stroll along this very arty and enjoyable area of London.
Enjoy a drink and a bite to eat at one of the many open-air bars and restaurants that line the walkways of this fashionable area of town.
Immerse yourself in this cultural hot spot full of theatres and art galleries.
If you're coming from Embankment Station (Strand) and crossing Hungerford Bridge, the London Eye is on the right hand side of the bridge.
This is a very popular part of South Bank full of jugglers, street-entertainers, fairs, the London Aquarium and Dali Universe are just some of the many exciting attractions plus the Beatles Exhibition.
The London Eye overlooks the historic Houses of Parliament and Big Ben which can be viewed very clearly from Westminster Bridge.
If you turn left after crossing Hungerford Bridge you'll come to the more arty and relaxing area which contains South Bank Centre and the Royal Festival Hall (newly reopened after its two-year transformation), The Hayward and Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Foyles Bookshop is along this stretch and famous authors can often be seen signing their latest books.
BFI Southbank
Waterloo station is just a minute away from the London Eye and close to the IMAX cinema and the BFI (previously known as the National Film Theatre).
There's an exciting program of screenings and events and in addition to it's three existing cinemas, BFI includes a Mediatheque where you can watch film and television from BFI National Archives for FREE.
Members receive a reduction on tickets and there's a bar and restaurant open to the public daily. For more information check out BFI

Walk along Bankside and stop at one of the many restaurants and bars or visit the popular Tate Modern.
Not far away is the Globe Theatre where you can enjoy one of the famous plays of William Shakespeare. Close by is London's National Theatre where actors such as Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes have recently performed.
A few yards on and you come to the Clink Prison, and Borough Market which are definite musts to visit. The market is trendy and fashionable and the oldest food-market in London and the location of popular films such as Bridgette Jones's Diary and Harry Potter films.
If by now you're feeling like a rest and a glass of wine then visit the amazing Vinopolis City of Wine and take a tour of the wine growing areas of the world.
Just a little further on and you come to HMS Belfast and then a few minutes away is Tower Bridge and the iconic Tower of London .
